Photoshop or Not

Photoshop or Not

Sometimes you just have a few seconds to make the decision. Do I take this photo or not. Above is Findlay, he’s my young son. He’s never seen snow but when I we were out walking one day I thought it might be a little fun to see if I could get Findlay to pose for a few shots. He’s a natural. It was so easy to ask this 2 year old to strike a pose. It was a dull over cast day. None of the leaves were out on any of the trees except the ever greens which gave me this idea for this image. I think that sometimes you just have to run with the idea.

Personally I love the image and the way it’s turned out. Though I have had a few bits of criticism from people and fellow photographers and purists on using photoshop to alter an image.  I would your thought on this image or what you think about the use of photoshop. I realise that it can be over used and this is a prime example of that as clearly there isn’t any snow. But sometimes it can add to an image. Do you agree?

What an amazing effect.

The way we look at an image has changed. Many of us believe we are looking at a photograph or image in its pure from when we see it in a magazine or on a website. But unfortunately that is no longer the case. Most professional photographers use some software manipulation tools. Whether it’s Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom or both. It might be the smallest tweak and no one would know.

I don’t use Photoshop or Lightroom heavily in day to day Photography. There is no way I would have the time to spend on every single image, and thats why its important to get the photograph right when you are shooting it in camera. But sometimes these tools help us. They can enhance an image. They can bring life to what can sometimes be a rather plain or dull image thats possibly needing that little bit of sparkle. And who doesn’t want a bit of sparkle in there life.
